1 Acceptance of the Agenda

The agenda was accepted as proposed. The minutes of the last telecon and the open action items were not discussed.

2 Overview of Task Team membership, Work Status and Commitment to Task Activities

Hans-Peter Plag presented the commitment matrix (see activity-matrix or presentation . He pointed out that there are now six co-leads for Component 1 of ID-03, but two of them have never responded to any e-mails. He also emphasized that sixteen out of the thirty Task team members still had not committed to any Task activities. Moreover, several activities had only one contributor or lead, and for Activity 5.2, no-one had committed so far. Thus, just looking at the long list of Task Team members was giving the wrong picture of considerable resources for the task.

3 Data Citation Standard

Ian McCallum had presented the data citation standard at the Splinter meeting in the morning, and there the discussion had provided valuable input. In particular, there was support for an implementation of the Standard. Hans-Peter Plag summarized the main points (see presentation .

Hans-Peter Plag pointed out that the implementation would entail an entry in the Best Practices Wiki, a regististration of the Standard in the Standards and Interoperability Registry, and a text to be included on the GEOSS Web Portal. The following actions were agreed upon:

Action Item ID03-M1-1: Ian McCallum will prepare a draft description of the Best Practice in data citation and distribute it to the Task team for comments. Responsible: Ian McCallum, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

Action Item ID03-M1-2: Ian McCallum will prepare a draft text on data citation for the GEOSS Web Portal and distribute it to the Task team for comments. Responsible: Ian McCallum, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

Action Item ID03-M1-3: Hans-Peter Plag will discuss with the GCI Provider group how the Data Citation can be implemented in the GCI. Responsible: Hans-Peter Plag, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

Action Item ID03-M1-4: Ian McCallum and Hans-Peter Plag will prepare Version 2 of the Data Citation Standard and address the issues identified by ICSU-CODATA. Responsible: Ian McCallum, Hans-Peter Plag, Deadline: 2012-06-30.

4 GEO Label

The GEO Label was discussed briefly (see presentation . The Label had been discussed during the morning splinter meeting, which resulted in several helpful comments.

Hans-Peter Plag emphasized the need to produce tangible results and to implement a first label because others, including the Data Sharing Task Force, were starting to push for their own version of a label. The discussion underlined the need to produce a concept and implementation paper.

Action Item ID03-M1-5: Hans-Peter Plag will prepare a draft GEO label concept and implementation plan and distribute it to the Task team for discussion. Responsible: Hans-Peter Plag, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

Action Item ID03-M1-6: Hans-Peter Plag will initiate a discussion with the GCI Provider Group on GEO Label inmplementation. Responsible: Hans-Peter Plag, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

5 GEOSS Science and Technology Portfolio

Hans-Peter Plag reported that the presentations of four compelling examples of the Portfolio during the Splinter meeting in the morning had been very successful. He emphasized the need to solicit additional examples to close the current gaps (see presentation . Ian McCallum reported that he had made an attempt to get more examples out of the EGIDA project, however, so far with no success.

Action Item ID03-M1-7: Ian McCallum will make an effort to solicit additional compeling examples for the GEOSS Portfolio from the EGIDA Project. Responsible: Ian McCallum, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

Action Item ID03-M1-8: Hans-Peter Plag will write to all SB Task leads and ask for considerations to submit proposals for compeling examples to ID-03. Responsible: Hans-Peter Plag, Deadline: 2012-05-31.

6 Science and Technology Meeting Portal

Hans-Peter Plag briefly reported on the GEOSS Science and Technology Meeting Portal. Unfortunately, not many are contributing entries to the portal. Some documentation on past GEOSS activities at meetings are available.

7 Input to Work Plan Symposium

The presentation template was briefly reviewed (see presentation and a few additional points were added.

Action Item ID03-M1-9: Hans-Peter Plag will complete the presentation for the WPS and distribute it to the Task team for comments. Responsible: Hans-Peter Plag, Deadline: 2012-04-25.
