Selecting Keywords

The next step is the selection of keywords that enable efficient discovery of the application. When selecting keywords, you should considered what terms a user of the URR might associate with the current application. The list of available keywords is determined in the Lexicon. If you have a specific keyword in mind, which is not included in the list offered, go to the Lexicon and publish the respective term as a keyword.

In our example of 'volcanic ash monitoring', we selected the keyword 'aviation', 'air pollution', 'disaster', ... 'early warning', and 'risk management' (not shown) as obvious. Moreover, we also select 'climate change', 'meteorological factor', and 'weather forecast' since volcanic ash has an impact on weather and climate, and weather forecasts are needed to predict the transport trajectories of the ash. On might argue that 'public health' is somewhat far fetched, but reduced air quality is of relevance for public health.

After we have made all desired choice, we can save the entry to the database by clicking on the 'Save' link on top of the form or the 'Save volcanic ash monitoring' button at the bottom of the form.

In case you want to leave a form before finishing the complete entry, it is important to save the partial entry by clicking on the 'Save' button. Otherwise, all entered information is lost.

Once we have completed and saved the entry, the form fields for references and comments are active. We select a reference from the list of available references.
